Restrictions to go in phases

Srinagar, August 13

Restrictions would be eased out in the state in a phased manner, Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal told the media here today. “The restrictions are being eased out after assessment by the local authorities of different areas and localities of the Kashmir Division in a phased manner,” he said.

State DGP Dilbag Singh thanked the people for peaceful Eid. “...Eid prayers were held and people participated in good numbers. We want to thank the people. At the same time, preparations for August 15 are on and we believe it will pass off smoothly,” he said after taking part in a full dress rehearsal for Independence Day.

A senior MHA official in Delhi, when asked when normalcy would be restored in the state, replied: “If the trade-off is between inconvenience and loss of life, if the trade-off is between peddling fake news leading to loss of life and people’s inconvenience, what should we choose?” — TNS
